State of independence

New year, resolve

In January, I’ll be leaving my position as interaction design director at Method and returning to freelancing as an independent user experience designer. The key motivation behind this is to enable me to concentrate on writing Interviewing for research, the guide I’m thrilled to be writing for Five Simple Steps. My time at Method has been short and an important experience, and it brings to a close - for the time-being at least - of working more or less exclusively agency-side since the mid-2000s.

Like many others before me, I’m drawn ever more by the urge to make things, and I’m looking forward to spending more time working directly with organisations, both established and just starting up, as well continuing to work on a project basis with agencies new and old. In code and in sketch, in research and in design.

In related news, I’m available. Get in touch if you’d like to talk about a project.
