'People, I love people'

I’m in the middle of planning my workshop for UX Cambridge, and reading over the responses to a small survey I ran to get a sense of what research people are doing these days, and how they’re feeling about it.

There’s a full write-up to come (promise) but I couldn’t resist sharing a few of my favourite responses, they made me smile so much.

I asked what people enjoyed most about design research. Here’s a selection of what they said:

‘People. I love people. I love people trying to use technology. I love making technology better for people.’

‘Finding that ‘a ha!’ moment that would never be discovered by sketching or by being sat at one’s desk.’

‘Talking to people, people are great.’

‘The confidence knowing that we’re ahead of the game, no matter what, because we took the time to hear from the people who will be using it.’

‘The noise. The story around the story. I like the way themes emerge but love the context that often leads to interesting design discussions around trying to delight users’

Interviewing is such a privilege.
